I have just loaded version 1.95 build 9 and found the class selection
in the competitor entry has changed from the earlier versions I have
used. One used to be able to type in the first few characters and then
click on the drop down list arrow and select the actual class
required. Now there is nothing in the list, except for those already
entered for other competitors, and you have to click on the file link
and scan down the file list to pick the class. This is very time
consuming compared with the old method. Not what you want when the
race officer is waiting for the list of competitors to take out on the
committee boat. Is there any configuration setting to get the class
selection to work the friendly way it used to?
hi,
I was trying to tidy things up so that the drop down lists are always
what is already in the file. However i can see your point. The counter
argument is that once all the competitors are in the file, the class
list is still huge if you use it to set up starts etc - so the new way
is better in that context…
I wil try and do somehting so bothe contexts are covered…

Colin,
I concur with pjhorner, I’ve tried using build 11 since the beginning of last weekend and its taken me a bit of extra time as we are still fairly early on in our series and so new boats are entering the series.
I also noticed that the rating isnt inserted automatically once the class is selected, instead I have to click the button next to the rating box and select the class from the list again. Also build 11 is pulling in all ratings files in the folder not just the book1.csv, was this always the case, I cant remember ?

Paul,
Yes it has been for a long time that Sailwave ‘pulls’ in all rating
files in the ratings folder. They are now more obvious as the name of
the file is listed.
Note - with Sailwave on Microsoft Vista something odd happens if you
try to move unused rating files to another location. Somehow Sailwave
on Microsoft Vista knows where they have been moved to. Colin & I
have looked at this and have not figured the exact circumstances out,
but it appears to be something with Microsoft Vista not Sailwave.
Kind regards,
Huw

Vista can be nasty.
Directories aren’t always what they appear to be and some directories are some sort of overlay/redirected directory depending on the user and the privilige settings of the application.
And what you see in a command shell can be different from what you see in windows explorer and applications can see one or other as well.
So its not always a case of what you see in one place is what a programme will see.
I’ll try to take a look and see if i can work it out.
We are gradually begining to understand the strange things Vista can do to you.

OK - I will do somehting - I stil like the idea of
KISS in that the droopdowns (by default) are always what is in teh
series - no surprised then. but i’ll add some personal global options
so that mroe experienced users can opt for hully populated lists fomr
the rating files.

Tony,
With the latest build of Sailwave, you can have all your club sailors
in the one file The trick is to mark unsailed competitors as hidden. When you enter a
competitor in the Sail Number Wizard they are found and the status is
changed from hidden to not hidden.
