8 Boats sail race 2 Medal Event, last drops to Trophy Fleet and is alotted entry points as per table below
7 boats, then 6, then 5, then 4 race in the Medal Event, with last finisher dropping to the Trophy Fleet
3 boats are left in the Medal Event. These are the medalists. One last race is held to decide who gets what medal.

The Trophy Fleet races are held concurrently with the aim to decide who comes 4th overall.

If the guy who was knocked out of the medal fleet first won every race he would win the 'Trophy' with 97 points. The last guy to get knocked out of the medal fleet needs to win the last trophy race to win the 'Trophy', which as he has lasted so long he is arguably the strongest competitor competing and may reasonably expect to win
