Colin

Tried previous beta on Windows XP Home edition (hopefully with all patches
as new computer with recent installation of OS)

In the dialogue windows asking for various inputs the editable text is not
displaying properly (1/3 of each character lost). Didn't seem to change if I
altered text font and size. The text in the main spreadsheet window is fine,
as is the non-editable text.

Cheers, Willem

Hi Colin

I really appreciate the effort you are putting into this program to satisfy everyone worldwide.

Can you explain to me the difference between "amp;results" and "results" in the publish feature.

Kind regards
Wayne Nolan
p.s. Was interested in the banter about "A' Class a few days ago. I sailed "A" Class in the late 1970's built the first Tornado in NZ in 1970.

···

From my quick look at this latest version you have ironed out the previous problems and next Saturdays results are going to look impressive on the notice board.

Hi Wayne,

Where are you seeing the "amp" - I can't find it - it's a bug. Or can you
point me at some published results with it in.

p.s. Was interested in the banter about "A'
Class a few days ago. I sailed "A" Class
in the late 1970's built the first Tornado
in NZ in 1970.

Awesome. I am itching to get my hands on a A but I simply cannot sell the
F18, even though it's up for a very good price. I approached the wife about
getting one anyway (and pay for it when I sell the F18) - and I'm still
standing - just...

The chat about getting both hulls out of the water (on an A) is
interesting - apparently a hydrofoiled moth is faster then an A downwind
now...

Colin

Colin

Trying to turn off "cleartext" reminded me why I don't normally use Windows.
Finally found that under

System > Performance > Advanced > Visual Effects

If I deselect "smooth edges of screen fonts" then the problem goes away.
Thanks

Hi Colin

The "amp;results... Ctrl + P" is in the first line of the drop down box
when I click on "Publish" to publish something. It has a line under it and
then there are the other 7 selections (without lines under them). When one
uses it it appears to not pick up the full details of the template.

Cheers Wayne

Australia, unsuccessfully, for the Little America's Cup in 1974.

Hi Wayne,

Are you using your own templates? If so can you check the syntax of the
first few lines - the lines that create the menu entry. Or if not, can you
check those lines for templates\results.htm against the others - it sound
like it's been tweaked.

I've been keeping half on eye on the C-Classes sailing recently in the USA;
remarkable boats; the is a picture of one flying a hul;l in what looks like
nil wind.

Hi again Colin

I am not using my own templates I am using the standard one and to me it
appears ok, not that I am any expert. Back when I was using version 1.56 or
may have been even an earlier version I tried to increase the burgee image
size and that altered all the settings on the template so I deleted that and
reverted to the original again. Would it be possible that this has been
stored in a backup file and hence is creating the problem??

Can you advise how to increase the burgee image with out upsetting the rest
of the fields? I'm using Windows XP Home Edition and when I tried
previously I used the "edit with Microsoft Word 97" function. Would it have
been better with Notepad?

Cheers
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Copy templates\results.htm to the MyTemplates sub folder
Edit it with a *text editor* like notepad
Locate the img.burgee line and change the 50px to something appropriate. It
defined the image hight; the width will follow automatically. To show full
size use "100%" not npx.

Ditto the other templates if necessary.

Colin.

I noticed that the new version allows elapsed time to be accumulated across
two different starts.

Is this meant to resolve the cruising class scoring issue where an
adjustment equal to "IN-GEAR-TIME * 0.4 * SQRT(LWL)" is added to there
corrected time to produce a final corrected time. If so how do I score the
race, where do save LWL for each boat?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

No - the accumulate elapsed time for a race has been there for a year or two
 the rating things'll be different. NB: the accumulate elapsed time
capability is a way to score a short series that it in fact a series of legs
in one long race - but it can also be used for club series with interesting
results...

Colin

Colin.

I noticed that the new version allows elapsed time to be
accumulated across
two different starts.

Is this meant to resolve the cruising class scoring issue where an
adjustment equal to "IN-GEAR-TIME * 0.4 * SQRT(LWL)" is added to there
corrected time to produce a final corrected time. If so how do I score the
race, where do save LWL for each boat?

Thanks

New beta of 1.58 available

Significant changes are a major speedup in scoring and being more flexible
WRT starts.

PS: it's a bit bigger than usual (2.5Mb) because it has debugging on.
