1.93 pre-release 060427 0844

Hi,

Another 1.93 pre-release is available linked below.

www.sailwave.com/binary/sw1930604270844.exe (1.93 year month date time)

This has the Sumbmission 025 stuff in it and a discard profile capability
for the finals as per Add C 20.4(c). Needs testing more than I have done so
far.

NB: Ralph. Scoring quals/finals is still as it was previously - all as one
group up to finals then by fleet (or something else) for the finals. I have
not got to the stuff we talked about previously whereby Sailwave calculated
the carry over points etc and allowed the finals to be scored as one group
as well. If it's OK as it is I may leave it for now because it's a lot of
work to change.

NB: You do *not* need to set up the weights as x2, nor set up the last race
starts as non-discardable when using the medal stuff; it overrides the start
settings automatically. This has the advantage of minimising work if a race
is added and being able to score the series in other ways - i.e. by applying
alternative scoring systems without the race weights etc getting in the way.
Press F2 in the scoring system edit window for all tooltips.

The idea behind multiple scoring systems is that you can apply different
systems to teh same data. I've reasied that things like race weights and
non-discardable flags should really be part of the scoring system for this
reason, but it's a good enough compromise for now (having that stuff in the
starts).

Regards,
Colin
www.sailwave.com

PS: Cumulative changes from 1.92 are:-

-Add Submission 025 Qlympic medals race stuff.

-Add discard capability for quals/flights as per App LE add C 20.4(c).

-Fix extra spaces being added when using the Tools+SetCompetitorField tool
to insert text before the existing text.

-Fix starts going AWOL when merging.

-Add close series button to the toolbar.

-Move FTP port and passive flags to user global preferences, cos these are
not a series thing.

-Add global user preferences to hide the 'event bar' and 'selected bar' to
save screen real estate when necessary.

-Allow specific codes to have their own format, overriding the user's
defaults.

-Fix some merging issues and try to make what it's doing a bit clearer in
the UI.

-Rearrange/simplify some bits of the user interface.

-Fix flight open/save bugs.

-Fix flight assignment tool bug.

-When publishing allow the published races to be different between summary
and race detail tables; e.g. show all races in summary
-but just publish a detail tabel for races 4 and 5. NB the formatting is
not quite rigth with this yet.

-Add save as XML option.

-Add another New menu to base a series on a user's series.

-Fix error message when adding first scoring rule.

-Move date format to Edit+Start.

PPS: The model stuff is still called "Submission 025" in the UI - I'll
change it to Add Q (or whatever it dshoulfd be) today.

Hi,

We (Seattle Yacht Club) are switching from 1.57 to 1.91. We use the concept of fleets - each fleet has a separate start (time and distance) and is scored separately. In 1.91 when I set the condition for start 1 competitors as Fleet=1, pressing the Test button gives me all competitors BUT those in fleet 1. Accordingly, after scoring and publishing I see that the start time and distance for Fleet 1 are those for Fleet 2. I tested it with just 2 fleets for now, but we typically have more (say 9). Is there a new version when this is fixed ?

Thanks,

Roman Budzianowski

Hi!

Use version 1.92 or later. 1.93sat for flights…

Make sure that you are familiar with conditions AND/OR.

You’ll find new versions on www.sailwave.com

Hi Colin
Just getting down to testing new version.

You say

Scoring quals/finals is still as it was previously - all as one

group up to finals then by fleet (or something else) for the finals. I have
not got to the stuff we talked about previously whereby Sailwave calculated
the carry over points etc and allowed the finals to be scored as one group
as well.<<

Not sure what you mean by this as I have just tested & it works OK ie
- score qual by flight (Assigned with tool)
- assign finals groups using seeding tool to populate fleet column
- enter finals scores & score groups separately (using fleet column)
The qual scored points remain the same & finals scoring is correct

Are we at cross purposes??

Ralph

NB: You do *not* need to set up the weights as x2, nor set up the last race

settings automatically. This has the advantage of minimising work if a race

The idea behind multiple scoring systems is that you can apply different

-When publishing allow the published races to be different between summary
and race detail tables; e.g. show all races in summary

not quite rigth with this yet.

-Add save as XML option.

-Add another New menu to base a series on a user's series.

-Fix error message when adding first scoring rule.

Hi Ralph,

Not sure what you mean by this as I have just tested & it works OK ie

- score qual by flight (Assigned with tool)
- assign finals groups using seeding tool to populate fleet column
- enter finals scores & score groups separately (using fleet column)
The qual scored points remain the same & finals scoring is correct
Are we at cross purposes??<<

No, ignore me... I mentioned an alternative way to go a while ago that would
be slightly simpler but have not had time to do it. Your procedure is
correct.

Regards
Ralph

I've reasied that things like race weights and
non-discardable flags should really be part of the scoring system for this
reason, but it's a good enough compromise for now (having that stuff in the
starts).

Colin

Hi Colin
Just scored a new series (just one race so far) with 2 boats not allocated to any fleet. However the warning bar said that there something wrong with the last boat that I manually entered / gave a result to, which was a bit confusing, but at least I new I had a problem somewhere
Cheers
Mike
