2 Questions: Pursuit Starts and Knots vs. Beaufort Scale

1. Is there a way to show wind speed in knots rather than Beaufort scale?

2. Can Sailwave setup (and score) a pursuit start race in a series where
some races have normal starts and others have pursuit starts (same classes)?
By setup I mean can Sailwave take a class, given a projected wind speed and
course distance and provide start times for each boat?

Hi Bill,

1. Is there a way to show wind speed in knots rather than Beaufort scale?<

The wind speed field in the race detail has two uses. If you're not using
wind-indexed ratings you can type in anything you want into the field and
it'll get published along with the race details. If you're using wind
indexed ratings this field defines the index for that race. The indexes can
be anything you like - they are just strings - in fact they need not be
anything to do with wind! You define the wind indexes on a per series basis
from the scoring system window.

2. Can Sailwave setup (and score) a pursuit start race in a series where

some races have normal starts and others have pursuit starts (same classes)?
By setup I mean can Sailwave take a class, given a projected wind speed and

Not yet. When done (it is promised to somebody already) it would probably
work off a race distance which is effectively the same thing.

Colin J
