A couple of user interface things

That would make what I’m currently doing much easier…

  1. When a result is highlighted hitting the delete key will clear the contents, save a lot of effort over right click/mouse move/click

  2. When the results are sorted on a column, and editing multiple competitors with “Edit next” checked, the column resorts after every OK, which means that if I am changing the field in the sort column (which I usually am, why else would I be sorting on it) lines are often skipped, so I have to go back and find them again. It would be easier if the column didn’t resort until after the Edit competitor dialog is closed. This one sounds tricky to me to implement, but I wonder, supposing the dialog box had 3 buttons, OK and Close, OK and Edit Next, and Cancel, rather than just OK and cancel plus a check box. Perhaps the check box could be to change default button between OK and Cancel and OK and Close. Anyway, if that was the case maybe OK and Next could be set up not to trigger the resort.

  3. Right click on a competitor includes “Create Alias of competitor” as an extra item in the context menu if aliasing is enabled.

Hi Jim,

Will have a think about 1 but do you realise there is an Edit - Clear results which allows you to clear results for multiple users very quickly (I confess to not realising this was there for a long time when I started using Sailwave)

For 2 could you not use the Tools set competitor field to do the changes if you are doing them on a block of competitors as would be inferred by the fact that you are sorting them.

For 3 Normally when you are creating aliases you are doing this for more than 1 competitor at the time, so would think the Edit New competitor Alias was quite efficient. The selection list is sorted on the same order as the main sort to make it easy and it preselects the currently selected competitor to make it even easier. If you just want to create an alias for the one competitor Ctl+Alt+N then Enter is a quick way

I’m doing my end year processing which is unconventional stuff, inter alia splitting up all the cases where the user has sailed two separate boats into two separate entries again, so its not quite normal usage. That’s why seems peculiar.
