A series race sailed only by some fleets

We had a club race in which only one fleet was able to complete a
race, due to rising wind conditions. The other fleets did not even
get started.

It would be elegant to be able to score this fleet for that race
when "Scored by Fleet", but have it ignored as a race not sailed for
other fleets.

Icing on the cake would be to have that race ignored when calculating
overall handicapped standings too.

This is great software, though. I'm amazed at it's flexibility and
power.

Chip

Hi Chip,

When scoring by fleet in that situation, Sailwave should do as you expect
and ignore the completely unsailed races of the other fleets. Did you enter
DCN or any results for the unsailed fleets - if so that's what's making it
think the races were sailed. The property bar on the left will tell you how
many races Sailwave thinks each fleet has sailed... Send me the series if
you still think it's misbehaving and I'll have a look.

Thanks for your comments.

Regards,
Colin J

Sailwave behaves as it should in this instance if DNC has not been
manually entered into the race result and the "Score Fleets" button
has been pressed: the race is ignored for fleets that did not sail
it.

BUT, if at any time you hit the "Score" button for overall results,
DNC is written into the results for the fleets that did not sail the
race, and it stays there even if you "Unscore" or hit "Score Fleets":
the damage is done.

It would be best if when you hit the "Score" button, the races not
sailed by all fleets would be totally ignored. Or some equivalent
workaround. I understand this might not be a priority for you - I'll
just have to be very careful and keep a series for scoring by
fleets "virgin".

Chip

Hi Chip,

Unscore should allow you to then score as fleets, it's a bug - I can see
what's happening; I'll fix it. Thanks for the feedback. (Unscore needs to
remove DNCs' - they get put back as required automatically when scoring).

Colin

Hi Chip,

This is done/fixed and will be available in 1.58.

Donald, this is (one of) the same problem(s) that you reported.

Yes Colin: This is one of my problems. Clearly scoring overall with
some fleets having missing races is a bit iffy. Is a sailor in a
'world class' fleet who gets five bullits in a five race series worth
less that a sailor with 7 bullits in a lesser fleet? We only use the
score overall to eyeball winners for selected prizes. But the DNCs
were a curse and I don't know how to solve the addition problem for
unequal races in different fleets. One further problem in this area
was that I couldn't unscore to get back to my original separate fleet
scoring. I had to delete races and renter the results for the fleets
with more races in their series. I will play with 1.58 when I get a
chance. Bye, Donald
