Absolute Numbering Sequence (no matter the way entries are sorted)

Hi to All members !

Hu and Jon.
Before the first race of a series, the OA office publishes the list of boats compliant to the requisites of that series. Publish “Competitor List” menu option.

I wish SW had a column called something like “Order #” , through which I could sequentially number the list of entries, no matter the sort criterion defined each time a Competitors List is prepared to be published. .

The main reason for this information is to have a “Competitor List” generated by SW, that:

  • helps RC to know , before the first race of the event, how many boats there will be on course, so to determine the starting lenght for example;
  • help RC and race officers to fast visually identify a boat in a , for examplo, 120 boats fleet list.

The “Columns” and “Competitors list” option seem not to have a turnaround.
“Bow number” doesn´t suit me, because it creates a fixed correlation between a bow number and a specific entry. If I sort the fleet by any criteria , this numbered order will be lost.

Looking forward to hear from you, I thank you.
Renato

Hi RK,

You can use any unused Sailwave column, except I suggest any related to Internet type things like email, website and SailorID, and rename to ‘Order#’ and populate this field when you import competitors having determined and allocated the order numbers you want in the spreadsheet before import.

Sailwave has a mechanism for automatically numbering a column, look at ‘Tools | Seed competitor field’.

I hope that helps, but if not come back and give an example of what you want.
Kind regards,
Huw
