I am new to sailwave, we have been using spreadsheets to handle the races here on Tuesday night for the Vic Smith Tuesday Night Trials in Marina Del Rey for years, and a turnover to a new race chair has prompted us to try to find a easier way to handle and publish the results, our spreadsheet method is quite time consuming and prone to error.
Sailwave looks great so far.
What we have always done, and I am hoping to be able to do with sailwave, is adjust the handicaps in our A and B fleets each race across our 5 race series (we do 6 series of 5 races every year). We are an entry level racing series and we like to keep it competitive for everyone, so we adjust up to 15 seconds for A class, or 20 seconds for B class each race. Our PHRF class just keeps their handicap all the time. At the start of each series we revert back to the PHRF for the boat.
We have been using ToT PHRF adjusting for wind, and so far everything seems to look good for that, however I am not seeing any way to adjust the handicaps for each race or to put in any way to make that adjustment (or if there is a similar system that would give us a way to create the same kind of adjustment to keep everyone competitive).
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks for all your solid work on Sailwave, it really looks great.
Sailwave has the capability on Microsoft Windows PC's to use an
external Excel spreadsheet to adjust ratings on a race by race
basis. This functionality was developed for the RYA here in the UK
for their NHC rating system and comes as standard with a Sailwave
installation now, But because the interaction is built in to
Sailwave it is possible to create your own rating modifications
using the functionality and has been done by several users of
Sailwave.
I have not done this personally just know that it is possible. I
am sure Jon the person who coded this functionality into Sailwave
will be willing to guide you.
Note - you need one more race in the series than will be
actually run [in your 5 race series you will need 6 races], as
Sailwave when initiates the calculations has passed back from
Excel the rating for the next race.
All best in making use of Sailwave.
Kind regards,
Huw

If you would like it might be quicker for me to give you a demo (via the web) of NHC and we can discuss how it can be adapted to your requirements.
If you could give me a call or Skype (“eskdale” Lydney UK) or Facetime or WhatsApp which ever suits you and arrange a time (anytime until 11pm UK time which should be 3pm for you) .
