We have a number of dinghy handicap series over a year and want to aggregate all the races into one series to provide an overall season placing for each boat/helm combination. Someone sailing 3 different boats would have 3 rows in the overall file. I have achieved this simply by merging blw files and in the Merge Series dialogue box selecting:
Merge/match competitors and append races/results
and also ticking
“Class” and “Helm” to match to merge a competitor.
Now for the bit that I have not achieved and that is to merge based on “Helm” only so that someone sailing say 3 boats during the period has one row in the overall file. The problem I have is maintaining the handicap from for the original races with the outcome that scoring the series results in changed placings from the original series.
Alternatively it would be OK to somehow carry over points only to the overall series file. Any ideas gratefully received.

Lets see if I understand fully
Using the first option on the Merge Series Results
You can merge successfully on Helm only but Sailwave only uses the one Handicap for all races?
Sailwave does support having different Handicaps for each race but it doesn’t import them when merging.
You can manually add the Rating for a race and you can make Sailwave use it for subsequent races until you change it again
So you would have to manually enter the ratings for each helm for the first race of each event, after you have done the merge.
Question is would is this something that Sailwave should import on a merge?
Is it something that others would like to do?
There are often ways that others have found of doing things does anyone else have any comments
