Anomaly on eWin beta 1.47

I've started using the beta and scored tonights race to fiind that the boat in 3rd place
had an eWin of 00:08:32 and the boat in 4th place had an eWin of 00:07:36, the
corrected times are shown correctl as 01:05:06 and 1:05:20.

It looks like Sailwave has transposed an 8 instead of a 6 in the eWin time, the correct
time should be 00:06:32.

I haven't tried in 1.46 to see if it reproduces it. Any ideas what has happened Colin??

-Ewin is the elapsed time a boat has to sail faster to tie with the winner
_taking ratings into account_, so it's not simply the difference in elapsed
or corrected times (unless both boats have the same rating); does that make
more sense to what you're seeing...?

Colin

Ah, right I understand it now.

how easy is it to modify a results template so I can explain that on the results sheet, I
can foresee a few competitors getting as confused as i was

Thanks

Hi Michael,

A simple way would be to use the 'Notes' facility on the Publish Results
dialogue. These notes are published after the series summary and prize list
but before any races. Although I guess this would depend on how many
results sheets you are publishing...

Our club also has the following 'standard' item posted on our website,

"-Ewin is how much faster a boat needed to sail (in elapsed time) to tie
with the race winner on corrected time.

Rwin is the achieved rating of a boat relative to the winner of the race.
Another way of looking at it is that Rwin is the rating your boat needed to
have to tie with the winner of the race.. "

Some time ago Colin had said he was planning to put a legend on the bottom
of the results sheet explaining ewin etc.

I waas messing with the results html file last night, had a few
problems saving an
amended version ( I'm editing in Dreamweaver on Mac and running
Sailwave on
Virtual PC so can't edit the actual results html file, I'm working on
copies). If I get it
cracked I'll up a modified file with John's wording, if I'm right all
you will need to do is
add this to the my templates folder , maybe Colin could confirm this?

Regards

Michael

If you know HTML it's easy. Copy results.htm from sailwave\templates to
sailwave\my templates and then add some text to the template in the
appropriate place.
