App LE Add C [STEP 1 - SETUP]

- You need version 1.82 to open the attached file.

- I'm using this discard profile for the 12 races: 0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1,2,2,2,2.

- addc1.blw file is attached with initial setup.

- I've used the default scoring system for setup, so that the defaults will
be inherited by any additional scoring systems that we use (in addition to
"score everybody as one group", which simply inherits everything from the
defaults.

SETUP
-----

The following setup steps have been used in the attached file.

- Rename the Club field and use it as the seed column. You will always have
to enter seedin infomation (if needed) by hand unless I add an import
mechanism.

- Set event/venue.

- Change race names to reflect quals and finals and set race date to Day
1-6.

- Setup default scoring system: Allow multiple 1sts etc (race scoring tab).
Scoring codes - use the button to set flight defaults - all this means is
that DNF etc are based on start sizes. 8.2 tie breaks - tick boats must be
in same start (series scoring tab). Set discard profile.

- Create Yellow,Blue,Red,Green starts for races 1-8 (quals).

- Create Emerald,Bronze,Silver,Gold starts for races 8-12 (finals).

NOTES
-----

(- I used the Seed tool in the Tools menu to set 1-20 in the "sailno" col
and "seed" (actually club) col - just pointing out the seed tool really.)

- Look at the property bar to the left of the main table. The scoring
system defaults are shown and then under "score everybody as one group" only
the grouping is shown because everything is inherited from the defaults. In
the property bat only items in a scoring system that are not inherited are
shown within a scoring system.

- Note that no flight assignments have been made for day 1 (races Q1 and Q2)
get. We'll do that next.

- Attached web page shows the published series thus far. Generated form
Publish+Results.

Hi Colin

Your new scoring system did not have the box ticked for special 8.2 tie break requirements.
Otherwise alongside you at the Windward Mark :wink:

OBSERVATION
You have sent a file & notes of what you HAVE DONE to arrive at this point.
So that we can have a go ourselves, is there any merit from this point in sending notes about what
we should do next & a file showing what it should look like with the additions?

You say "Anybody can join in. The goal is to make sure we all understand App LE Addemdum C - i.e.
scoring a major event using flighted qualifying and finals series"

It is fine if everyone is familiar with "set up default scoring system" or "I used the seed tool"
etc etc but if not, these processes may be significant issues in achieving your original intention.

Just a thought....
