Appendix 8.1 and DNS

Got what looks to me like an anomaly. I don't know if its by design
or what. Situation is a series where we had one race with only one
finisher and several DNS (is sailed to the start area). The DNS are
scoring as 3 points, which is correct of course with low points, but
appear to be being counted as 3rd places for the purpose of 8.1,
which isn't what I would expect... Thoughts?

regards, Jim C

Hi Jim,

Personally, that's what I would expect; 8.1 deals with points ("scores")...

Colin

Hi Jim,

I'm pretty sure it's correct because one of the Appendix A authors confirmed
it  Actually, I want to get Sailwave consistent on names as well, using:
score, place and position, where place is the recorded place in a race and
position is the final published race/series position based on points; it's
an important distinction because place never changes WRT RDG etc but
position can. Are you exhibiting at te Dinghy Show this year?
