ARK 2004 Race Series

Hi Donald,

Are you trying to get the whole series on a single sheets of paper? Because
it fits easily width-wise - just folows over on to more than one sheet...?

Hi Colin: Here is the series. Just score it by fleet. Re my comments
about every possible method of scoring races. I think you respond to too
may requests for "odd" and unique types of scoring. Re printing, the
quicker Sailwave does it "in house" the better. I still do not
understand how to print out results that people can read. If you pull my
results into IE you will see that it doesn't format very nicely - the
BBYC and regatta name don't centre. Bye, Donald

Hi Donand,

This is a link to you ARK results on the Sailwave web site using the "small"
style tweaked to use Arial because Arial is narrower then Verdana.

http://results.sailwave.com/ark.htm

If you print this from explorer each table comes out on a separate page; it
fits portrait OK.

I saw some non-Sailwave results recently that had been squashed onto one
page and pinned to a noticeboard - but nobody could read them - seriously,
lots of old age and eyes jokes - so perhaps we need a way to print over
several pages width-ways and length-ways rather then squash it all onto a
single page....

NB: I've continued the conversation on the SUG since is a
generically-interesting problem.

Regards,
Colin

Hi Colin: I publish a fleet at a time because then I get the header and
logos each time. It spreads people along the wall so competitors are not
all trying to look at the same sheet of paper. And yes, it will fit in
landscape with a 12 point font. It can be done in portrait but the font
has to be small. Fleets that require several sheets I just print and cut
and paste with scissors so the tables are continuous. I actually print

···

on legal paper at 14 point so people can see and 15 races will fit easily. But do you get the message box when you score by fleet? Someone else got it as well I see. Bye, Donald Colin Jenkins wrote:

Hi Colin: Yes I printed it out and I get one fleet per page except,
naturally, those fleets that have more competitors. But the font is very
small - the old age problem! But how did you get it to print one fleet
per page. When I tried your results it worked perfectly. But when I
tried generating it here from my Sailwave the tables were continuous -
ie no space between the end of one table and the start of the next. So
if I could just find out what you did then I could print on legal (like
foolscap size) using Sailwave Transparent with a font oldies could read.
How do I force IE to print one table per page when possible - this is
what I don't know how to do. I don't mind a long table running over
several pages. You see this is probably all operator error and lack of
ability with software. Now if you want a computer designed from scratch
I'm quite happy to do that - just don't have me deal with Mr Gate's
inelegant bloatware! The wind is increasing, I'm going sailing. Bye, Donald

How do I force IE to print one table per page when possible - this is
what I don't know how to do. I don't mind a long table running over
several pages.

When publishing there are check boxes to select to publish separate tables
for each fleet and then another checkbox to say print each table on a
separate page.

I've been meaning to tweak this with a 3rd checkbox that optionally gave you
a full header and fotter per table, rather then the header prefixing the
first table and the footer suffixing the last table as it is now.

With that 3rd box you should get close to what you require perhaps...?

If so, I'll do it this-evening - after I've picked up the mother-in-law for
her anual 3 week stay.

Yes, I've fixed it. Will upload tonight. (You can safely ignore it).
