I have conducted an extensive review of the program however there are always specific questions where answers are not easily found.
I note that within the features it quotes "One-design, handicap and average lap racing." I note that average lap racing is supported for Class and one design racing. Does Sailwave also support/allow you to calculate results for Average Lap Racing with handicap fleets? Or can you write the results code to calculate this from within Sailwave?
We have a large variety of classes sailing against each other in one handicap fleet and not all classes are able to complete the same number of laps. Currently we calculate the results by hand. What we would like to do is calculate the results for publishing to the club website. Sailwave looked the ideal medium for this but sadly looks as if the feature is not possible from within Sailwave!
Can anyone enlighten me if this is possible and the best way to approach achieve this.
The answer to your question is yes Sailwave does ‘Average
Lap Racing’ (ALR) for handicap fleets. Just add the number of laps when
prompted for the finish times
Note – each boat should cover the same theoretical
distance, i.e. the start/finish/lap gate should all be the same otherwise
things get biased.
