I’d like to be able to define a code to give the average of results for races which were actually sailed.
Normally this would be achieved by excluding DNC, but in our club, if people turn up, sign on, rig their boats etc., and the race doesn’t go ahead they are awarded DNS, with points equal to DNF.
The intention is that they get some reward for turning up, and if people are short of races to qualify for a series they can count these, since they made themselves available to race.
The results for those races for those who attempted to compete in those races thus consist entirely of DNS values.
However when people are awarded average points, for being on OOD duty for example, the DNS scores should be excluded along with the DNC results to give a fair relection of actual racing performance… but there appears to be only an option to exclude DNC.
Is there a simple fix for this other than manually editing the average points values?
Thanks
Hi, FYI we had a similar requirement a while back creating a custom code OODX for those kindly doing extra duties and although scored like DNC got included in the average scores (which was not the aim) , a switch on custom codes to allow them to be excluded from averages would have met my requirements and would also help here as you could have created a custom code with that option.

Won’t these drop out if you use suitable discard profiles?
It seems relatively unlikely that average points are discarded unless you have both a pretty large number of discards and people sailing a high proportion of available races. For our fleet championships we only count 40% of sailed races over the full season (out of a programme of 70 races per season) to allow for people going on holiday, having unavoidable commitments and so on, and most people end up counting at least some of their average points, since, by definition, the average points will be better than their less good results.
