Hi,
I’ve been using Sailwave for the past 6 months, previously I was using spreadsheets for results. At the moment I’ve been using it ‘out of the box’, with all the settings left at default. I would like to configure my two class and handicap series to provide a competitor total based on the best four results. Is this possible?
Thanks
Mark

In the scoring system “series scoring” tab you can define the discard profile as an expression. The variable s represents the number of races sailed. So an expression of s-4 should do what you want. i.e. discard s-4 races leaving 4 not discarded. When only 1,2 or 3 races have been sailed the negative result is forced to be 0, so it should work OK in that context too.

Under "Setup|Scoring Systems|Series Scoring" you can define the discard
profile. You can use a formula. The letter "s" represents the number of
races sailed so if you use "s-4" then the number of discards will be
equal to all races sailed minus 4 so you should be left with the best 4
scores for each boat.

May be me but I thought he wanted just the best result from 4 races. Not sure why you’d do that… but thats what he asked for!
In which case you want to discard 0 races after the first race, 1 race after the second, 2 after the third and 3 after the fourth. 0,1,2,3 entered in the same place as s-4 would achieve that for you. Or s-(s-1) arithmetically would achieve it if you always just want the best result…

Sorry for the delay, was watching the Mirrors on Lough Derg today...
Many thanks for the replies, i'll try both methods and see the feedback I get from my critical audience!
Another question on another thread..

I know it’s late at night, but surely s-(s-1) =1 discard. S-1 would discard all but the best result
Night all!
