biggest arrrgh with publishing;

My biggest (only really) "arrrgh!" with publishing is the need for controllable page breaks. But this is a problem in anything I print from IE - what I really need is Microsoft to allow me to adjust page breaks in print preview mode. But I doubt any of us have that much pull with MS!

Speaking of the Sail Number wizard, my main frustration right now is the need to have the sail number wizard default to elapsed time as the data format. What I'm thinking is that when I have picked a handicap scoring system that I will always be entering times and so the wizard should not default to place numbers in that case. A setting on the scoring system page where I can tell it what default to assume would be perfect. Right now I'm considering going back to an older version of sailwave where it detected what I wanted from what I typed - I'm just making too many mistakes the way it is now. At the very least add some error checking so that the place number field will not accept an input other than integers - that way it would stop me when I first goof up rather than when I go to do scoring.

My 2 cents. Thanks for all the hardwork - Sailwave is a lovely program.

Hi Jay,

I intend to do somehting about page breaks in Sailwave. If you are
desperate you can do this: having viewed any web page use the
right-click+viewsource to get the source in notepad. Add this text where
you want the page break, making sure that it's between elements:-

<br style="page-break-before:always;">

The sailno wizard problam sounds like a bug - if you have selected a rating
system it should default to something sensible - i'll have a look at it
today. Presumably once you have netered one time it stocks thereafter and
doesn't expecta place...? I have negotiated a whole day doing Sailwave with
the wife so I should get a bit done.

Thanks, it's getting there slowly....

Now that's extremely helpful - thanks so much!

I haven't done exhaustive testing, but here is what I've seen. I always have USPN with wind handicaps selected as the rating system. I set this somewhere a long time ago and never mess with it. The wizard always starts out with "place" selected. After I enter one competitor, it defaults to the same setting for subsequent boats in the same fleet, but it reverts back to "place" for the first boat seen in each fleet (and my results are usually mixed together). Then when I start entering the next race, it goes back to "place" again.

If I miss checking the "elapsed" box, it allows me to enter times in the place field and then complains when I score the race. Then I have to find and fix the ones I messed up, which turns out to be enough of a pain that I often just re-enter the whole fleet.

Thanks so much,
Jay Harrell

Here's the full css2 repitoire:-

CSS3 has more but cannot be relied upon in browsers.

The problem is that it doesn't (seem to) handle big tables in any useful
way.

Thanks for the SailNo wizard feedback; will look at it later. Going sailing
now...
