Is there a way to apply a bonus time to a corrected time? (A few of our races have a special component where up to 6 minutes can be earned and substracted from the corrected time.)
I am also interested in this feature. In a related matter, you cannot adjust elapsed time as a form of scoring penalty or redress. Two practical examples: Distance race with a 1 hour elapsed time penalty for OCS; elapsed time reduction as redress for rendering assistance.

Most long distance races have a time penalty instead of OCS. Examples are below
- PENALTIES - The jury may impose suitable penalties other than disqualification, including time penalties , for breaches of a rule.
http://www.bermudarace.com/Portals/0/Uploads/Documents/Public/SI%20inc%20Am2%2013Jun12.pdf
25.9 Any yacht that is on the course side at her starting signal and which does not return to the pre-start side of the line to properly start will be protested and will be penalized two hours of elapsed time in lieu of being scored OCS.
http://www.transpacrace.com/docs/2011racedocs/SI2011.pdf
9.2 Any boat that is on the course side at her starting signal, or must comply with RRS 30.1, or starts on the wrong line, that does not return to the pre—start side of the line to properly start, will be scored OCS and penalized sixty (60) minutes of elapsed time in lieu of being scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of boats entered in the race. This changes RRS 28.1 and RRS A4.2.

In a test file, I scored by Finish Times. If I then go to a competitor and the result of a race and click on "Edit Result" and then click on "Elapsed Time" I can edit the elapsed time. Let's say I add 10 minutes to the Elapsed Time but don't change the Finish Time.
When I score, the actual Finish Time is shown and the "fixed" Elapsed Time is both shown and used to score (at least the BCE comes out correct as 10 minutes more than before). So, I think you can do what you want. The only issue is notice to competitors and I supposed you'd have to include a notes column in your published results so you can indicate what you did. That surely isn't a bad idea anyway as you probably want the ability to show "protest pending" when two boats are involved in a protest.

Thanks, Art! I was generally aware of that workaround, but did not fully realize that elapsed time and finish time can be altered independently of each other. As you point out, the real issue is how to present the information on the score sheet. An additional notes column should do the trick.....kett

Art,
After further study, this is a tenuous workaround, at best. You can, indeed, edit the Elapsed Time separately from the Finish Time, but if you click on the Start/Finish Time button in the Edit Result window, your Elapsed edits are lost and the E Time is recalculated from the S/F Times. I wish that the E Time edits were persistent, no matter what other field you might (inadvertently) jump to.
Maybe there needs to be another option on the Edit Result>Result tab called something like Manual Time which is persistent and, when checked, overrides the calculated E Time.

I noticed this as well but I don't think it a significant problem as if you are entering Finish times for all boats you aren't normally going to be playing on those pages. But, you are correct that if you put in a special Elapsed time for a boat then it will disappear if you then switch to using Start/Finish times and then switch back to using the Elapsed time (the calculated Elapsed time, rather than the input Elapsed time, is used; the special Elapsed time will need to be re-entered).
Art
PS - There are hundreds of "rare" scenarios that might pop-up when scoring (or using any computer program, for that matter). I think Colin is right to focus on the things that frequently arise as opposed to those the rarely, if ever, arise. I would put the "problem" with disappearing Elapsed time edits in the "rare" category.
