Can any one help with a scoring challenge please?

Hi

In a couple of weeks we are hosting an annual inter club event . In previous years we have scored the races in Sailwave and then manually extracted the race results to a spread sheet to determine the winning club both by fleet and overall.

I am hoping that we can do the entire process within Sailwave, but cannot see how this might be achieved.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Three clubs taking part

Three fleets sailing Fast / Slow / Youth.

The fleets are scored separately.

Two races no discards.

Using PY ratings and average lap time racing.

Straight forwards so far

In each race, within each fleet, the top four boats from each club count their position in the fleet.

The total scores for each club then determine the position of the club at the end of the event, both overall and within the fleets ( this last point being nearly as a matter of interest, the overall result being the important aspect).

I know how to score the fleets separately, but not how to pick out the top four boats from each club and score them using their position in their fleet.

Any ideas as to how / if this can be done would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Christopher,

Sailwave produces the results for the ISAF Youth Worlds Nations Cup

which is similar to your needs. However, the ISAF Youth Worlds have
each class in a separate Sailwave .BLW file and the information is
extracted from them by one of the Sailwave files that is set up to
produce the results.

The Nations Cup functionality is under Plugins on the Menu bar.

Might be worth taking a look and see if it will do what you want. I
think you will have to use the Nat column for identifying your
clubs

Kind regards,
Huw

Wouldn't the Team Prize facility do this for you? (Publish / Team prize table)

You might have to use separate files for Fast, Slow and Youth.

Hi Jon

Team Prize table seems to produce what I am looking for but on an overall series basis, whereas I need the best four from each club in each fleet on a race by race basis. With an overall total calculated from those results.

Unless I am missing something, which a strong possibility.

Cheers

Chris

Could you do each fleet in a separate file?

Christopher,

Take look at the ISAAC Nations Cup plug-in. As said in my earlier

email you will need to have to se the Nat field to identify your
club. Also will need to have separate files for each group.
