Can't connect to publish by FTP

HI I have the newest version of Sailwave and One windows 10 laptop can’t publish by FTP. The UserID , Password and site are the same as from a working copy that can publish. I did remove my antivirus and reset my network

I can also connect by FileZilla ftp to the site.

Sorry to hear of your FTP publishing problem.

Something you could try:

  • click Set-up on menu bar
  • click Global options from drop down list
  • click FTP tab
  • check� the box use passive transfers
  • save
  • see if can now publish

I did try that before. This is a new installation while my other computer has been running Sailwave for almost 2 years

I get:

Version: 2.25.10

Installed: Unknown

Time: 8:28:14 AM

Cannot connect to mycsailing.com

Sorry to hear of your FTP publishing problem.

Something you could try:

  • click Set-up on menu bar

  • click Global options from drop down list

  • click FTP tab

  • check the box use passive transfers

  • save

  • see if can now publish

Hi Mark,

If all the details are definitely correct then it is likely that there is a firewall preventing Sailwave from performing the FTP to your server.

This can be either the Windows Firewall or a third party firewall if you have one installed.

There have been issues in the UK where the ISP is Virgin, where they are using a proxy server for ftp. But I think you are in the USA correct?

Some versions of Windows 10 did default to the Firewall blocking applications although the latest version defaults to not blocking.

Hi Mark,

  It might be that your Windows 10 firewall is not allowing

Sailwave connectivity through for FTP. Sorry I did not think of
this for last post. Sailwave uses built-in FTP functionality, so
firewall may not recognise connection as FTP which it is allowing
via FileZilla or FileZilla is accepted by the firewall as part of
the default settings.

Hi I turned off the firewall and even tried an uninstall and reinstall. When I reinstalled Sale I removed the registry settings for HKLM & HKCU No change

I created a new profile and it works! Thanks
