Changing ToT B value

Hi - I don’t pretend to be an expert on this so hopefully you will get some other replies but as I understand the problem.
Sailwave can support different ratings/ Handicaps on a race by race basis so an easy solution to this would be to set Sailwave to use TCF (Time Correction Factor) for its calculations and then enter the rating factor into Sailwave based on the formula

TCF = k /(B + PHRF)

Where k is a arbitrary constant value which sets the middle of the fleet to a TCF of 1.000

You could use my SWPH program to help you calculate and update the values if you wish.
(on a side note - I have made some enhancements to the current version of SWPH which I will release in the next few days once I’ve had a chance to update the documentation)

Does this help?

Jon,

Apologies for the delay, have been away on holiday. Thanks for posting the link for your program. I have downloaded both your spreadsheet and program, but when I run the SWPH program, it doesn’t seem to populate the spreadsheet. Am I doing something incorrectly? Should it do it automatically? I’ve had a read through your site and I can’t see anything immediately wrong. I thought I might need to point your cells at the corresponding ones in my sailwave file. Do I need to?

Hi Chris,

Yes it should all populate fully automatically.

So did you open the test file in Sailwave

Then run the SWPH program

and then click the To Excel button

What happens?
When you run the SWPH program it should run and display the name of the event that is open in Sailwave

When you click the To Excel button it should automatically open sailwave with a copy of the the Template file SWPH.xls and then automatically fill it with data so that it looks like the screen shot in the documentation

Let me know what happens - are far does it get?

Jon,

Yes, downloaded the test file and it populates the Excel spreadsheet as shown in your example. However, its when I try to use one of my own sailwave files that I cannot get the data from sailwave and into the spreadsheet.

Email is cgandy@tiscali.co.uk if direct correspondence is easiest so as not to clog up the sailwave boards.
