How is the Chips3 scoring system implemented in Sailwave? Do I need additional files? How do I access it?
I'm asking as the web-slave for the Sailing Association of Intermountain Lakes, which is using Chips3 to score its season-long championship tours (begins early May & ends in October, events in Colorado, New Mexico & Wyoming). The notice of series and sailing instructions will be on our website. In the spirit of telling competitors the rules before the game begins, I'd like to explain how it works. I think that means some experimenting.

To access CHIPS (which is the same as CHIPS 3 by the way) you first need to access the Pro mode: Setup - User Interface - select Pro then tick High Point Scoring - OK.
Then when you click on Scoring System the options for setting up High Point Scoring will now appear on the list and you select CHIPS on the Race Scoring tab.
Next select the Scoring Codes tab and check that the following codes have been set and if not set them as follows -
DNC = 0
RTD (including DNF & RAF) = Starters + 1
DSQ (including BFD, DNE, OCS) = 0
OK that and you are ready to go. No additional files are required.
If you want more details on the CHIPS system - the principles and mathematics for example - then you may wish to look at the paper “All About CHIPS” which can be found in the SUG Files area.
