Hi,
There was a very close finish in our Friday evening race yesterday evening. There were only three competitors in Fleet A, and one retired. I entered the times into Sailwave and it placed T first and M second. However, on calculating the results manually, it resulted in M narrowly winning over T. The manual calculations are below and I attach the .blw file.
Am I doing something wrong in Sailwave?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Regards,
Sue Fortescue, East Dorset Sailing Club
'Have just redone calls following mins x 60 + secs divided by py x 1000 divided by 60. Using this T comes out at 67.23 and M at 66.33
Finish times were T 75.53 and M 73.46’
Hi Sue,
I have just done the
manual maths and arrive at:
- Streaker 1565 Tim Lewis PY 1128 ET 67:27 CT 59:48
- Laser 2000 Martin Baker PY 1112 ET 66:33 CT 59:51
Which are the same
as calculated by Sailwave, so even though the Laser 2000
finished first on the water after the rating calculations they
finish 3 seconds behind on corrected time.
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Sue,
There seems to be a discrepancy between what’s in your Sailwave file and the calculation you did.
The Elapsed times in the Sailwave file are being correctly turned into corrected times. In the Sailwave file, one of the Elapsed is 66:33, the other 67:27, but you seem to have done your calculation based on Finish times were T 75.53 and M 73.46’
