Not so much about Sailwave but as most users run club software can
anyone recomend any membership software package or web applications
preferably with online access.
Hi,
I to would be interested in knowing if any members of this community know of such a package or packages.
For information there used to an open source project called amember but having checked http://freshmeat.net/projects/amember/ it appear that there has been no work for over a year. There is a version of amember which can be purchased from and information obtained at http://www.amember.com/
Currently we have a custom written membership database using Lotus Approach, but investigations are underway to look at what additional functionality is required and how to provide it. One thing that would be nice is to have an online application form and payment mechanism. Additional functionality that would be of use is a mechanism for individual members to maintain their own contact information, by email and/or secure web page, and indicate there interest in club mailing lists which would cover various interest areas.
Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks Huw that one looks interesting. I have found several others
since:
Another more aimed at sports clubs is
http://www.phphandicapper.com/index1.htm
http://www.interlogy.com/products/pmpre/
There are web based services.

A British Example
http://www.activityforum.co.uk/clubs/index.cfm/fuseaction/af.home/gro
u_select/0/page_id/104.htm
the good thing with this type of service is it requires no technical
expertise to use. I don't know what the annual fees are for this.
Has some useful features such as Mailing labels.
A more access Type
http://www.membership-software.com/ "V1.57 is due on the 13th of
September... This includes a new FTP feature to let you easily
share MMS databases between PC's"
Our Club Has a database driven Website consisting of a content
management system and forum. PHP/MySQL. We also use Sailwave for
Results. We are currently working on Membership Database with online
access for committee members and an online payment system to tie in
with the public website.
We are then hoping to sort out posting results automaticly to the
web database in the future.

Guys,
There is something else in the pipeline for next season, specifically designed for yacht racing and geared towards integration with sailwave.
I cannot say much other than that at this time, but I will keep anyone that is interested posted.
Colin,
I would like to talk with you at some point about some ideas re sailwave integration, off line for now.

One thought for you to consider is that when one enters information in Sailwave for a competitor that does not currently exist in the Sailwave I would like a check to be made on the membership database to see if they are a member, have been a member or therefore need speaking to check their right to have been sailing!

Andy,
Just come across this web site, http://www.marine-suite.com/products/regatta.htm, which provides Regatta Management software. I am in the process of getting more information. A British version for allowing competitors to register and pay on-line for sailing events would be a useful facility especially if it could do what the aforementioned product claims.

Hi Al,
A follow-up to my earlier message. I have got information from two USA Regatta Management service offerings and it is as follows:-
The software is web based. There is nothing to install and no special hardware is required. They charge 11% of the entry fees which includes all credit card processing fees. There is no set up fee or long term commitment.
As for Scoring there are three options:
- Use our scoring package which can be run locally or from the internet.
- Use Java Score - we import and export natively from Java score.
- Export to a CVS file and import it with your scoring program of choice.
They will probably be adding a couple of other options early next year.
The charges are as follows:
- Site setup – $100.00 to $500.00 depending on the complexity of your site and how much content you want me to convert/create. This gets your club its
own site with your own look and feel. If you just want to publish your regattas on the sailregattas.com site, the setup is free.
- 8.5% commission on each credit card transaction.
- 3% commission for each entry fee paid for by check.
- Management of your domain name, $100.00 per year (optional).
Kind regards,
Huw

has been no work for over a year. There is a version of amember
which can be
purchased from and information obtained at http://www.amember.com/Currently we have a custom written membership database using Lotus

functionality is
required and how to provide it. One thing that would be nice is to
have an
online application form and payment mechanism. Additional
functionality that
would be of use is a mechanism for individual members to maintain

there
interest in club mailing lists which would cover various interest
areas.Kind regards,

Andy,
Just come across this web site, http://www.marine-suite.com/products/regatta.htm , which provides Regatta Management software. I am in the process of getting more information. A British version for allowing competitors to register and pay on-line for sailing events would be a useful facility especially if it could do what the aforementioned product claims.
Kind regards,
Huw

Guys,
There is something else in the pipeline for next season, specifically designed for yacht racing and geared towards integration with sailwave.
I cannot say much other than that at this time, but I will keep anyone that is interested posted.
Colin,
I would like to talk with you at some point about some ideas re sailwave integration, off line for now.
Regards,
Andy.

` Thanks Huw that one looks interesting. I have found several others
since:
Another more aimed at sports clubs is
http://www.phphandicapper.com/index1.htmhttp://www.interlogy.com/products/pmpre/
There are web based services.
An American example http://www.memberclicks.com/index.html
A British Example
http://www.activityforum.co.uk/clubs/index.cfm/fuseaction/af.home/gro
u_select/0/page_id/104.htmthe good thing with this type of service is it requires no technical expertise to use. I don't know what the annual fees are for this.Has some useful features such as Mailing labels.
A more access Typehttp://www.membership-software.com/ “V1.57 is due on the 13th of
September… This includes a new FTP feature to let you easily
share MMS databases between PC’s”Our Club Has a database driven Website consisting of a content management system and forum. PHP/MySQL. We also use Sailwave for Results. We are currently working on Membership Database with online access for committee members and an online payment system to tie inwith the public website.
We are then hoping to sort out posting results automaticly to the web database in the future. --- In sailwave@yahoogroups.com, "Huw Pearce" <huw.pearce@b...>wrote:
