Combined fleets

I want to run a series with two fleets racing as one group, and scoring individually. This would mean each boat would have an overall place, and a place by fleet. NHC scoring to be applied.

Any ideas on how to set this up? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the Sailwave User Group.

This is possible in Sailwave. You need to have some 'tag' associated

with each boat that is the same for all those boats in each fleet,
suggest using the Fleet field/column…

To score as one group use the first option in the Scoring series

window. Now comes the caveat, how do you want to score by fleet?

If you just want to extract the results for each fleet then score a

second time and use the check box under the first scoring option and
select Fleet if you have used my suggestion above.

If you want to re-score based on Fleet then you use the second

scoring option in the scoring window. BUT BEWARE it is possible that
some competitors overall position relative to others in the fleet
will be different, e.g . competitor A is in the overall
results including everyone placed higher than Competitor B but in
the overall for the fleet Competitor B is placed ahead of Competitor
A.

Need to make sure SI's state clearly what is intended.

Kind regards,
Huw

Everything Huw said is accurate. But, it requires publishing twice so
the results will be in different HTML files.

Another way to do it is using aliases, in which case you can have all
the results on one page when you publish. In that case, all boats would
be in the "ALL" fleet with half also in the "Group 1" fleet and the rest
in the "Group 2" fleet. One of the two bunches (the "ALL" or the
"Group1/2" boats) is aliased to the others. Somewhere on the Sailwave
site is some info on using aliases (it needs to be enabled in the user
interface).

Thanks Art. I agree that the key will be aliasing. I was hoping for a solution that would rank the results side by side. I understand this is not available, I can work with your suggestion. I appreciate the advice.
