Consolidation

Hi everybody,

I lost some users over the elapsed-time bug recently. Interestingly
they were users that I didn't know I had; not members of the SUG or
the mailing list. I think it's time to enter a consolodation phase;
improve the usability and reliability and help/web for what is there,
rather than continue to develop new stuff; not that dev will stop;
just that it'll be slower. Things like XP compatability and
internationalisation issues need adddressing as well. I'm going to
reintroduce the beta concept and will announce beta releases here. If
SUG members could exercise the them when/if you get the chance, I'd
be very grateful...

Colin,

Just to throw in my 2 cents (or should that be tuppence? J ) I think
you have been doing a great job. I for one will be happy to exercise betas as
they come out. I am curious about your XP comment however. I have been running
on XP Pro for quite a while now with no problems excepting some text display
issues with ClearType. Of course I have only been running test scenarios as we
don’t have any racing going on at this time of year. Have others reported
problems?

Hi Bill,

I think the issues with XP and 2000 are to do with user privileges. Presently you need to be at least a ‘power user’ (I think) because Sailwave writes files in the Sailwave installation folder - which is often out of bounds for a normal user. Thanks for the offer to test the betas.

Regards,

Colin
