With 10-12 races run each week and 7 or 8 weeks in a series (not to mention 21-23 for the season), we would like to be able to quickly see how many races an individual has actually participated in to know how close one is to meeting the qualification (60%) (or falling below that threshold and becoming DNQ).
I do not see a column option to show that, so I am wondering if it is possible to use an effect script that would count the number of races without DNC and create a column for that number for each sailor. (It could potentially calculate the percentage if that is preferred.) I would also want to the suppress the display of the individual race columns and just show the rank, sailor (helm), score, and number/percentage of races.
Given enough time, I think I could figure out if this was possible and code it, but I figured I would ask if anyone else has tried and succeeded or failed.
Sailwave does know something about the number of races a
competitor has sailed because it can in the rank column show DNQ,
if ‘Qualification profile’ is chosen in Set up | User Interface.
Currently this information is not exposed to us the users.
However, you could try using the functionality in Sailwave to use
an external Excel spreadsheet to do additional calculations. This
functionality was included originally to support the RYA NHC
rating system. The functionality works through the information in
Sailwave race by race, because its intention is calculate the
rating for the next race.
You can turn off publishing the race columns, just like other
columns. Probably do not want to turn off viewing the race columns
on the screen!
