While sailwave doesn’t do this automatically, the fact that it allows you to set up multiple scoring systems lets get the information you’re looking for without too much difficulty. Our club gives a few special awards that are based on the number of starts during the season. After one season of doing it the hard way, I created a second scoring system in Sailwave called ‘number of starts.’ I set this new scoring system up as as ‘custom high point defined by formula’ (formula set to ‘1’ ) and set each letter code to ‘score a fixed number of points’ which I set to either ‘1’ or ‘0’ as appropriate. The result is that each finisher a single point for each race sailed. I simply re-score the series with the new
scoring system and sailwave kicks out the number of starts for each boat.
