Hi,
I've had a computer hard disk crash and lost all Sailwave mailing list user
details from around the first week in April. If you registered to join the
Sailwave Mailing List (not the SUG) on/after this time would you please fill
in the form on the web site again. Also I've lost all feedback from the
same period so if I've not responded to an email from you could you resend
it please...
Sorry for the Hassle.

Colin,
A few recent thoughts, some of which you may have already received, but
which in any event have become further developed (in my mind)
1. Thank you very much. Sailwave was used for the Wayfarer Inlands by a
(rather nervous) who had not seen the program until a few days before. She
found it no problem at all.
2. The facility to ignore DNC is a great help in series racing
3. One facility which would be most useful would be to have a database of
competitors, which would work much in the same way as the handicap and club
databases. When a sail number was entered for a new competitor, if that
sail number was already on the database, all other details would be copied
from the database to the competitor form.
4. As a supplement to 3 (or maybe as a first stage) it would be handy if
competitor lists could be imported from excel or text files. As an example,
we are running the Volvo RYA South East Zone Championships and will
certainly be using Sailwave for the results (I would have a mutiny if I
tried to change back). We will have a lot of Competitor data, most of which
is irrelevant to the race management but it would save a lot of time if the
relevant stuff could be transferred electronically.
many thanks

Hi Richard,

It's on the todo list; I'll move it up a bit. You can use the File+Import
menu option to create new competitors based on the details of competitors in
other series but it's not as slick as what a competitor database could do.
4. As a supplement to 3 (or maybe as a first stage) it would be handy if
competitor lists could be imported from excel or text files. As an example,

OK, I'll add import from CSV (Excel and generate these and they are plain
text) file to the list. Can you tell me the date of the championship and
also send me an example of a CSV file as generated by Excel so I be sure
it'll work for you.
