Dashboard results display

One of our local sailors, with suitable IT skills, developed an app to produce a dashboard display of final results, using the Sailwave output.
See http://www.glyc.org.za/Downloads/KYC_IC_2026_FastDashboard.html
Would this be of use to anyone, or is there a similar version already out there?

Hi Malcolm,

Wow that is impressive, well done your local sailor.

I am not aware of anything like it.

I would be interested in knowing more for my curiosity. I have looked at the page source and there is a lot of code, which is well structured.

Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Malcolm,

Please can you ask for the normal Sailwave footer to be added as mentioned in the Sailwave deal on the Sailwave website:

Sailwave Logo

The deal…

This free software in return for a Sailwave logo linked to sailwave.com on your event or club website and a restriction that the Sailwave link in the results footer shall not be removed regardless of media or reformatting. This is a good example of a simple but effective event page and this is their club results page.

Kind regards,
Huw

Huw,

I temporarily loaded the file on to my GLYC website so as to be available on this forum. Its not publicly linked anywhere.

However, I have passed on your request to the developer.

Hi Huw,

I’m the sailor that wrote the Dashboard webpage. Funny story - I wasn’t able to participate in a race and was feeling quite sorry for myself, so I built this sitting in front of the television using Claude Code :joy: I didn’t expect people to see much value in this. I shared it with our internal sailing WhatsApp group, and someone forwarded it onto the interclub group. I think that is where Malcolm found the it.

  1. I take note of the requirement to add the footer and have gladly done so.

  2. If you see any value in this visualization approach, I’m very happy to share the application with you and make any changes that would be useful. This is simply an HTML file that you open, and from there you can open up the Sailwave HTML output. That generates a new HTML with this visualization. It’s very simple and lightweight, and if there’s value, I’m very happy that people use it if they would like to do so.

  3. The main intention was for me, as a new sailor, to be able to easily see how the races went, where I did well and poorly, and also be able to compare myself with just other Finn sailors, for example. Since the version you saw, I have made some additional changes to illustrate how the rankings changed between races. Also, there are now sparklines to illustrate the performance of each sailor relative to themselves between races. (So you can quickly see which you did well in, and which you did poorly). It still needs some work.

If you would like to have a look at it, please feel free to have a look at this zip file: Dashboard.zip It contains a file, index.html, which you can open. This will ask you to provide a Sailwave output HTML file, that it then processes to generate a new HTML file. I have also included some sample data, one including a result file with multiple classes included.

I’m happy to hear from you, and extend this little app if it would be helpful to others.

Kind regards,
Johan van Noordwyk

I would be interested if it is easy to install etc.

Hi Paul,

Quite simple to use

Download the ZIP file, extract the files and run the index.html file.

Putting the re-created file on the Sailwave server is a different challenge.

Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Johan,

Welcome to the Sailwave community.

Thank you for adding the bit about Sailwave and for sharing your file.

I have downloaded the ZIP file and extracted the contents. It works with Sailwave created HTML files I have tested so far.

I look forward to doing some more testing from which I may something to feedback.

You certainly have a very good grasp of programming, unlike me.

Kind regards,
Huw

where is the zip file?

Hi Paul,

The link is in Johan’s post highlighted in the screen grab below. Note - you have to scroll back to Johan’s post to get to the link.

Click link and on the page that opens click the download button

Kind regards,
Huw

It is in the post by Johan from this morning

Thanks. Just looking at it…

Hi Johan,

This really looks great. Please can you double-check the scenario in case of series ties (RRS A8 APPENDIX A SCORING)? Thanks.
