Day Prizes

When using Publish Series Summary Table - Just these races, is there a way
of getting the points total just for the races being published, rather than
as appears to be, the whole series to date. Requirement is for example to
just publish summary say for races 3,4,5 and their total to determine the
winner of the day races on day 2. Using v2.9.7
John

Hi John,

Unfortunately functionality is not available in Sailwave v2.9.7. It

can be achieved but it needs a bit of work.

Jon has on his ToDo list a mechanism to be able to select which

races make up a mini-series. This is something I have wanted for
quite a few years. Not sure how soon will appear but last I heard it
was getting near the top  So keep a watch out for announcements
of new versions.

Kind regards,
Huw

1. Under Publish|Publish a series summary table put just the races you
want to show and use for scoring (in your example, "3-5" or "3,4,5").

2. For the earlier races you don't want to score (in your example, races
1 and 2) go to each start in the race (Edit|Edit race) and check
"Discard me first."

3. Use a discard profile (Scoring system|Series Scoring|Discard profile)
that discards the races you don't want to use for scoring (since you've
checked "Discard me first" you won't be using the races you don't want).
In your example the profile would be "0,0,2" or "0,0,2,2,2" - which will
discard races 1 and 2 once 3 or more races have been held and you rescore.

4. The "Nett" column will show the total for the non-discarded races (3,
4 and 5 in your example). Don't publish the "Total" column (you can
change the name of the "Nett" column to "Total" if you prefer, which I
would).

This will show only races 3, 4 and 5 AND the "Nett" column will show the
total for those races AND the boats will be ranked in order of the
totals in the "Nett" column.

I presume this is what you would want. Of course, to later score the
entire series you'll have to go back and undo steps 1-3.

Hi John,

Huw is correct in that there is not a simple way of publishing a mini series within a full set, and it is on my to-do list.

Art has kindly given you one way of doing it. The other way which works well if you only want to produce the results once (i.e. not updating it after each race) is to make a copy of the Sailwave file with a different name and then just delete the races that you don’t want to include. This is the way I currently do it myself when the need arises.

If I do have to publish after each race it is a bit more effort but doesn’t take too long - sometime its even quicker to just enter the results into both series. Or may be you could import the results - which ever method suits you.

Jon

Yes in fact I copied the file each day to make a separate set of results, and then merged them all to get the overall weeks results. I was just being lazy and looking for an even easier way.

Thanks
