Different Divisions in Series...

Hi All,

I am new to group and looking for help. This may have an obvious
answer but I haven't found it yet.

Our Wed nite series (Spring, Summer, Fall) has three divisions
(A,B,C). Each division is scored independently for trophy awards
for each series. Each has a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

I would like to publish summary and cumulative with all three
divisions in a series. Can this be done or do I have to create a
different series for each division....?

So far I have tried using different Fleet but does not produce
the desired results. I have also tried different Class but also
does not segregate divisions.

Thanks in advance....

Nick Puccio

I'm not quite sure i understand the issue but it sounds similar to something
i did at our regatta where i
used fleets and the scored the series as a whole (using F9) and published
the complete results and
the re-scored using individual fleets (ctrl-F9) and published the desired
fleet. This isnt the same as
filtering out the results from whole series since each fleet is
re-calculated with a 1st, 2nd etc.

John,

Thanks for the information contained in your e-mail, about re-scoring fleets
individually.

I had inferred from information posted by Colin that it was possible to
score each fleet individually, i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, within each fleet, but
had not found how to do it.

Scoring within each fleet individually rather than just extracting the
overall group positions and using those for the sub-groups, can change
overall positions in the sub-group. I have an example of this from an event
I ran last year.

Yes i agree that can happen. For the event we were running we had an open
meeting
running within a handicap fleet and the people in the class that had the
open meeting
could compete in the handicap event as well so i wanted to score them as
1st, 2nd etc. in
the individual fleet in case there was a position change.

Thanks

Huw/John et al.

Yes that can happen. Rescoring by fleet is different from extracting by
fleet. It's easy to set up scenarios such that rescored fleet results have
place changes - not a bug - some SIs explicitly state rescored fleets rather
then extracted results; e.g. GP14 Nats. The nearest Sailwave gets to
extracted results is to sort by fleet after scoring across fleets. Sorting
by fleet actually sorts by fleet+position. I agree scoring by fleet should
be optionalised to one of the two methods.

Colin
