Discard profile

Hi Folks,

Due to personal issues our Sailwave “expert” is not able to do our race results
so it has gone down the line to other “experts” so finally I have got the short
straw to do the results.

I have played around with Sailwave for a couple of months so
the only problem I have at the moment is setting up the Discard profile.

As we have never dropped more than three races in a series
it has not been a problem to sort the Discards out at the end, our system is,
“Half the number of races plus 1” and the rest are Discards. (18 sailed 10 to count, 8
are discarded). I have looked around the
net etc but I can’t find anything written that I understand.

The longest series we have is 18 races.

I would appreciate some help to set up a Discard
profile. I have attached one of the
current .blw files please.

Hi Charlie,

  What you need is an expression in the discard profile field. See

the attached file which has the modification to the file you sent
with your email.

  If you click  the cog icon to the right of the discard profile

field a window will pop-up showing what discards are applied for
completed races not scheduled races.

Hi Charlie,

Welcome to Sailwave.

If you double click the discard profile ( or go through the menu system) you get this screen - change the discard profile to s/2-1 then press the cog icon to test it.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for getting back to me.This confirms what Huw sent me yesterday so I think I’m sorted out, I hope.

How do you both come up with, “s/2-1” as apposed to say,0,0,1,1,2 or what ever the profile is?

My other query is now is, do I have to do anything after the last race of the series or has Sailwave done it all for me?

Won’t be around till tea time ish, going sailing and safety covering.

Its just come to me, “s” is the number of races sailed, /2 plus 1.
