Would someone please explain how I alter the settings so that the
program does discards for whole series of races, no matter how many
races are in the series?
You should enter a discard profile that is equal to or more than the no. of races in your series (via Scoring System / Series Scoring / Discard profilre)
e.g. 0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3,4 gives a profile for up to 20 races.

Or use the formula method (hover your mouse over the discard profile
slot in the Series Scoring tab - accessed from the Scoring Systems
menu button) if it fits your wanted pattern.
