Division bug

Hi: I mentioned this bug a week ago with no response. In last week's
regatta I used Division to identify Red, Blue, and White Opti fleets.
In arrange columns I unchecked Division 'cos I only wanted the Comm to
see it on the final day. When I went to recheck the box to display
Division, Division was not shown in Arrange Columns.
In this weeks regatta a data entry person used Division for a
different purpose and lo and behold he can't get it to reappear in
Columns.
Different computer, different regatta, different user.
What is going on? Latest build in use.

Donald,

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Can you check the following:

select UI button on toolbar

Check radio button beside Pro is highlighted

Check check box beside extra competiors fields is checked

I can replicate your problem of the ‘disappearing’ Division field if
the I do not have the above options selected.

Hi Huw: Thank you for your prompt and useful responses. I will probably
have to use the rescoring solution if the finish people miss any other
competitors! After the regatta I must send in a list of problems the
worst of which is the results entry for several Fleets in one finish
sequence. It is complex to set up to get each fleet to automatically
transform into a 1,2,3 sequence and it is not intuitive. Why “copy to
all starts?” Why not automatic unless you want something different. I
can’t imagine why one would want to change it from scoring each fleet
1,2,3!

Meanwhile we are getting wind and sunshine so it is not all bad.

Donald,

Hope the regatta does not cause you anymore problems with Sailwave :wink:

There is a use for Sailwave recording in the same order as the boats cross the finish line irrespective of class, you can then get the same view in Sailwave for checking purposes :wink:

There is also a technical difference between between finish place and scored result, although most people think they are the same. Sailwave when it scores gives the results position within a grouping. Don’t forget it is possible to score across a range of different fields within Sailwave not just the usual ones of Class, Fleet or Division and the recorded finish position on the finish line is the raw piece of data that all scoring is derived from.

Anyway enough of the technicalities.
