DN Iceboat Scoring with SAILWAVE

Hello,

is there a way to let sailwave score DN-Iceboat races using the
lowpoint calculation for DN-iceboats which is a little bit different
from the ISAF Lowpoint scoring. Mainly the tie breaking is quite
different.

Hoping to get a solution,

Godie

Some options for tie breaking may be selected or de-selected when you activate this option in User Interface - Pro

But options are very limited, I already pointed out that a rule "break ties on race x, further on race y, then according to ISAF App 8.1 and 8.2" is not possible.

That's a pity. We really need a good scoring program for the
international DN Iceboat Class which is the biggest around the world.
We now use the JavaScore Program but are not completely happy with this.

May it be possible to integrate our tie breaking in sailwave? It
differs not too much from the lowpoint ISAF rule. The lowpoint
calculation is the same, it's only the tie breaking.

The IDNIYRA (International DN Iceboat Yacht Racing Association) would
be very pleased to have it.

Hello Colin,
our IDNIYRA-Lowpoint scoring is similar to the ISAF lowpoint scoring:
first place, 1 point; second place, 2 points; third place, 3 points;
fourth place, 4 points; fifth place, 5 points; etc. - lowest score to
win. Throwouts: if 5 races are completed, the points for each yachts
poorest race (including DNS, DNF and DSQ) will be eliminated from the
scoring.

I think this is covered by Sailwave. Isn't it?

But now the ties:
Ties will be broken by the following algorithm: If two or more
skippers are tied for a position, the skipper who finished ahead of
the other in the most races wins the tie. If the tie is not broken,
the skipper who finished ahead of the other in the last race wins the
tie. If necessary, the next to last race will be used to break the
tie. If the tie is still not broken, the next previous race will be
compared, and so on in reverse order. If the tie is not broken after
all races are compared, it will be declared a tie.
*Note: All races will be considered in breaking ties (including
DNF,DSQ,DNC and any throwouts)*.

This is not covered by Sailwave. But is there hope to get it work?

Regards from Germany, Godie

webmaster www.icesailing.org

The discard profile should be 0,0,0,0,1

Tie breaking:
The first rule is impossible to apply with 1.95 Build 6
The second one seems to be the same as App 8.2

Godie,

I’ve been looking around the icesailing.org website and can’t find the right spot for your scoring rules. Would you please provide a direct link to the class rules regarding IDNIYRA lowpoint scoring?

But if you want to see it in original look here:

Hi Phil,
when you say, the first rule is impossible to apply, does this mean
that it would be impossible not at all or only in the moment and it
could be integrated in the next version?

It is impossible in the present version 1.95 built 6
But I think the developpers are aware of the problem and there should be something about it in a next build.
There are three issues about tie breaking: yours, one of Huw Pearce about breaking on places and mine, about breaking on one or several races before applying ISAF App A8

In the mean time, I think you should train intensively with Sailwave to be ready to use it when the functionality will be included.
