Echo Handicaping Adjustments

I am currently assessing the sailwave package for possible use in our
club ( www.arklowsc.ie ). One query I have is that due to the
fragmented nature of our sailing, ie: some race on Wednesdays, some
on Saturdays, some on both days and a convoluted mix of round the can
type racing and mini offshores, how does one apply the Echo
handicapping system. Is this carried out automatically by the
software using the estimator tool or do the handicaps have to be
manually adjusted using the relevant appendix "F" (I think) from the
Echo Handicap Guidlines.

Also, should the handicaps be adjusted after every race, for every
boat, regardless of whether they compete or not.

Any reponses welcome.

As far as Sailwave is concerned ECHO is implemented as another TCF rating
system with no special procedures or code. I know that some other clubs in
Ireland use Sailwave's Wind Indexed Ratings facility to do something to
automate ECHO more but I'm not sure what. If you like I can email them
asking them to get in touch; would that be useful?

Colin,
Thanks for the quick response. Your offer to email various
individuals would be appreciated.
