edit start and select competitor button ???

This may be a dumb question, but I'm reading through some older posts and it appears that to solve my larger issue, I need to create different starts within a race. I have tried this by selecting edit-race, then new start and then edit start. The default is all competitors, so I attempt to change this and click 'select competitors'. This is where all forward momentum stops. I can't do anything after this. I can't type anything, and all I get is an audible beep so to speak when ever I try to click the mouse anywhere. I can get back to 'normal' by hitting escape. How do you edit the starts to select competitors? I've rebooted and reinstalled, but it remains the same. I've also opened other .BLW files to see if I could edit those, but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

I just installed the latest version 2.02 build 2. I'm running Win XP.

thanks in advance for all help,

Keith

Hi Keith

Not sure what is causing your problem

It is working OK on my PC (Vista)

When I click on ‘select competitors’ I get the window which allows me to chose fields etc

I cannot see where this option could be switched off which implies that it is not your setup

Anyone else suggest possible causes?

Regards

Ralph

Sounds like there’s a hidden window, underneath your open, visible windows. There should be a Select competitors' window opening once you have hit the Select competitors’ button.

Try minimising all windows, or click Alt-tab until the window requiring action appears.

Ralph and Malcolm,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think you are on to something here Malcolm. I just tried to locate the open window as you suggested and I can't find it. It's almost like the window didn't quite open. When I do the Alt-tab, I can toggle between windows. Prior to clicking the select competitors tab, I can toggle between my browser and the sailwave 'edit start' window. After I click select competitors, the name on the sailwave window changes from 'edit start' to 'select competitors', but there is no new window visible. Again, it's as if the new window didn't open properly.

Any suggestions are appreciated. In the mean time, I will install sailwave on a different PC and note the behavior.

thanks again,

Keith

I installed Sailwave on a different PC and everything works fine. The new 'select competitors' window pops up and I'm able to continue. I tried it again on the old PC and still nothing, but at least I now know what to expect. Anyone have any ideas as to why that window won't open on my Lenovo T61 laptop? I've never seen anything like this.

thanks for the help,
Keith

All the fault of Bill Gates!

Memory limitations; max no. of open windows exceeded? Who knows!

Is there a way in the scoring to have another window to the far right of a fleet/division score to show the OA with in the fleets?

I know I can do a final score based on Fleet/Division, or separate an overall. Can they be combined into one?
