Is there a way to do this in version 1.95 build 6 besides the work-
around of putting bow numbers in the SailNo field?
Agree.
By default, the Sail Number Wzard uses the SainNr field.
There are other options, like Nat (good for the Olympics), Helm (perfect for club regattas where most of the cometitors don't have sail numbers but the committee knows everyune, Boat (good when boat names are displayed properly, not in small cursive on the transom, but NOT on Bow Number.
Sail Nr Wizard accepts other fields like Rating, Total, Nett, Exclude or Medical Flag, I'm not sure it's the most useful.

Hi Mainsail111,
Yes! Use the Bow Number column
Check you have access to the Pro options by clicking the UI button on the Toolbar and having the Pro options radio button selected together with tick mark against ‘Extra competitor fields’. Then to have the Bow Number column visible:-
- click the columns button on the Toolbar
- double click Bow Number in list on left hand side of window that appears
- remove tick marks against view on screen and view when published
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi all,
You CAN use Bow Number for entry in the Sail Number Wizard. However, you need to make sure that the column is not hidden on the screen! My earlier message details the instructions. However, an update is appropriate; to have fields available for use in the Sail Number wizard they only need to visible on the screen, but if you are using them for this purpose it is likely that you will want them on any published output as well;-)
Kind regards,
Huw

Huw,
I did it…
Further fields like Tally don’t appear in the Sail Number Wizard, even if they are displayed on screen. This could be useful for some events when the Jury gives a collective DSQ for boats failing to comply with a rule about it.
On the other side, fields like Rating, Total, Nett, Exclude or
Medical Flag are displayed, but they don’t need to.

Phil,
I agree some fields may not be appropriate to the Sail Number Wizard, but whose to say or choice would be everyone’s choice What might be appropriate is to have another column on the Columns Window tagging those that an individual may want for use in the Sail Number Wizard, with a default set enabled, such as;-
- Sail Number
- Tally Number
- Bow Number
- Helm
- Boat
- Nationality
One answer to the question you pose is to have Bow & Tally Numbers as the same thing! It would ease matters when ‘Beach Teams’ are looking for trolleys for returning boats
Kind regards,
Huw

Philippe,
I have just opened a series in which I was not using Tally Numbers and in Columns window both view on screen & publish were set to no. I set view on screen to yes and then went to Sail Number Wizard and Tally Number appeared in the list.
I am willing to look at your file if you would like me to.

Phil,
Thanks for the file. I can select Tally Number in the Sail Number Wizard
You have discovered a ‘bug’ The list of options that you can choose is longer than shown and there is no indication of this when you click the down arrow in the drop down list box. However if you click in the list and then use the down arrow key additional selection options will ‘magically’ appear. What is missing is the usual vertical scroll bar that appears to the right of a drop down list.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Huw
