Entering scores from the water

Hi Everyone, I am a new Sailwave user. We are looking to use Sailwave this winter for our Laser Frostbite Series in Newport. Some of our super RC’s are in the habit of entering scores using their phone on the water while a race is happening (our old scoring program was an online app). How would you suggest doing this with Sailwave? I am wondering if we should get a tablet to bring out on the water. Are there any tablets that will run Sailwave? Does anyone know of a good waterproof cover for a tablet other than a ziploc bag? Our RC boat is a Whaler.

You can run Sailwave on any of the Windows Tablets that run the true windows. Some of these are quite cheap now £125 for a 10 inch on amazon UK. Sailwave will run pretty well even on a low spec device.

4 or 5 years ago our RC invested in a very inexpensive netbook, a battery operated printer, a flash drive stick, and a good carry case for it all. We enter, process, and print on the water between race starts, and then finish up the last race, print a new series summary table, and save the current series on the flash drive before heading into shore.

The theory was that if the netbook went overboard, we lost a minimum investment and always had current backup files. We have never had an issue with it, and are the envy of all the clubs on the lake, who spend an extra hour on shore trying to get results out.

Definitely a low-tech solution, but it works for us! Need someone with a steady hand and a steady stomach to process, though, as we use a converted sailboat and the equipment is used in the small cabin. It can be a little rocky if the wind is up!

Thanks, what is the true windows? A lot of the tablets on amazon run Windows 10, will that work? I think this may be the simplest option for us, using Dropbox to store files and putting the tablet in a Ziploc bag.

Sorry when I was referring to true windows I meant the windows running on an Intel processor. A couple of years ago Microsoft produced some using the arm processor but they have been discontinued now. So the windows 10 tablets on Amazon should be OK
