error 0 when attempting to upload to sailwave

Hi,

I have fallen into scoring my current RS 100 and formula fifteen nationals as the hosting club did not seem to have anything organised.

I have never uploaded results to the sailwave site but see this as a quick and easy fix.

On trying to upload I get error 0 - failed to upload, after a window stating that I successfully established a connection.

I have tried different file names

I am using Win X with latest patches and the latest sailwave 2.25.11

Any ideas?

Hi Rob,

Strange - there is no problem with Windows 10 or the latest versions normally

Try as per below using a filename of test.htm

image.png

image.png

image.png

It should be very simple - I assume that you didn’t try putting any directory in front of the filename - This would cause an error 0

If you have got the connection established then you are halfway there

Please check any firewalls both Windows and Third party ones

Thanks for your quick reply Jon,

When using your settings, I still get:

This happened when I have my email address in the email field, or not have it in, and when I have my McAfee firewall turned off or on.

Hi Rob,

If you are using Windows 10 you will also have a Windows 10 Firewall.

If you click on Allow an app through firewall

You need to make sure you have the Sailing Scoring Software boxes ticked as shown above

Hi Rob,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems uploading to teh Sailwave web site. I see Jon has already replied with a suggestion or two.

I have one suggestion an dit is to open Global options on the Set-up menu and change the setting for Passive transfers by checking the check box on the FTP tab.

Kind regards,

Huw

Thanks Jon,

Those choices are greyed out in my system.

It seems that McAfee has taken over my firewall

Hi Rob,

I am in Australia and was having trouble uploading with Telstra after switching to the NBN but could upload via my phone, at the Library but not at McDonalds or the Coffee Club.

In the end I found a setting on Telstra that I turned off and then had success.

I do not remember the details.

There is an ‘unsecure connection’ to click on, which is possibly a concern for some, I think

They will have to get over it!

Hi Rob - I assume your fix was Huw’s suggestion of ticking the use passive transfers although I have no explanation as to why this would work. I certainly don’t have it ticked on my Windows 10 PC’s. So it must be something different on your PC or your ISP.

Yes Jon,

That was my fix.

Don’t ask me to explain!

The thing is, now I can show off Sailwave when I was not supposed to be doing this.

I only put my hand up when we were offered scraps of paper with the finishing times and (almost all of the finishers) on  Did you watch ‘Murder in Paradise’ ….

The printers don’t work, so publishing to the Sailwave sit is just great, and a great advertisement.

I’m off to be now, but I will ask how I get the event and club burgee on the Sailwave site… I will look at that maybe tomorrow

Thanks very much again for such a great resource!

Hi Rob - Well done - to use the Logo’s on the results all you need to do
is fill in the series properties see example below with the location of the images you wish to use

image.png

In this example the event burgee is

https://i.imgur.com/CPMVLQb.png

image.png

This is hosted on the imgur.com web site and they will host images for you free of charge. It doesn’t have to be the imgur.com site it can be any site. If you can find an image online that you wish to use then you can just link to that.

One consideration you need to make though is the size of the image so you could save a resized version on the imgur.com site. Or consider publishing using the Publish - ResultsV2 included in the newer versions of Sailwave. There is info on this on this forum and will attempt to auto resize the images for a balanced format. Hope this helps.
