Excluding a race in a series file from a series results

Colin,
I have series of races in an inter-club championship. There are
4 "official" races that are scored as the series with 2 races that are
part of the championship, but results are not used in scoring the
series. Prizes are for the race only for these 2 races.

It would be useful to have an option to not use a race in the series
calcs, kind of like "discard me first", but "discard me always".

It already exists!!!!

Set "discard me first" on the two races you wish discarded and set your
discard profile so you have two discards. I have used this method for
practice races.

so if we have races 1,2,3,4 which are part of the series and races 5 and 6 which are not.

if someone completes 1,2,5 5 must be discarded and the yacht will have noraces+1 for 3 and 4

if someone completes 1,2,3 - no dicards.

I'm probably too tired to think it through, but I cannot see how that will help.

In the case where you have six races, with races 5, 6 being the races you
always want to discard you would do the following.

1. Set races 5 and 6 as discard me first.

2. Set your discard profile as 0,1,1,1,2,3

3. Score the series and go to the bar.

The other question I would have is if races 5 and 6 are not part of the
series, why are you including them in the same sailwave file. Score them
separately and then you won't have to worry..

Hi Mark,
Your last point is the conclusion that I have come to. It was more convenience such that since there are only 6 races it would have been nice to keep them in one series file, I guess in the same way as you include your practice races.

I don't see you r discard profile working in our case, an eample scenario would be:

if races 1,2,5 are only raced you would need to discard 5 and have boats sailed+1 for a third unsailed race

if races 1,2,3 are only raced you would want no discards

However, thank you for your comments, I guess I'll have to move the races to a seperate file.

Had a chance to start a race today using the "Sailing Event Controller"
provided by

I was quite impressed as controlled race hooters, timing etc.

Thought it would be worth adding as a link on SW Website.

I did not actually use the export facility to get results into sw as I did
not realise it was there at the time. However having now looked at the tech
specs I realise this is possible and will hopefully be testing it in the not
to distant future.

Hi Andy,

If the first 2 races and practive races and then there are 4 real races,
with 1 disard allows after 3 of the 3 races have been sailed I think a
profile of:-

1,2,2,2,3,3

Will work if R1 and R2 are marked as discard me first.
