Is there a way to exclude a competitor from part of a series?
The reason I ask is that during our Fall series, one of our competitors had cause to change boats, thus adding a new competitor entry to the sailwave file for the new boat.
For the first 2 races, there were (say) 8 boats in the division, but adding his new boats increases the number of boats in the series by 1, which in turn affects the scores of other boats that DNC. (which is required to be # of boats in the series + 1)
Of course, I could ‘fudge’ the results by modifying the scoring system to have DNC scored as series+0, essentially nullifying the artificial increase in the fleet, but this is likely to cause other issues (like being repeated in next seasons file inappropriately).
It would be cleaner if I could simply exclude boat 1 from the last 4 races and exclude boat 2 from the first 2 races within sailwave.
One solution is to change the rating of the original boat after the first two races to reflect the rating of the new boat. You will have to give it an innovative class description.

Hi Greg - Peters suggestion is good - but it does depend upon whether you want the points for his competing in Boat A and Boat B to be considered as a single competitor. Sailwave will let you change the rating of a boat part way through a series, or even differently for every race. This is often done when a boat acquires a spinnaker or similar.
If you want him to be scored as two separate people then that is more complicated. Perhaps adjusting the DNC to Boats in Series + 0 is your best solution if that is how you want it to be calculated. At most events that I score it is accepted that it will increase the DNC by 1. Sailwave would not have any way of knowing.
