Hi Jon,
How can I do dual scoring without entering race data in two different
files? I have seen discussion about
using alias’s – which looked complicated.
My goal is to be able to score races each month, primarily PHRF, and
secondarily NHC – and then to be able to have independent results, but still
able to merge race days for an overall (for each) leading up the final for the
season.
Basically, there are races once
a month, 2-4 races each day, from May – October.
Again, thank you for your patience and help…
I have attached race results for May (PHRF) as an example of
a race to do dual scoring
Michael
Hi Michael,
The Dual scoring is easy enough. There is an example included with Sailwave using Aliases
I’ve also attached a file with aliases of your competitors and a fleet NHC.
Creating Aliases is really easy - just enable it in the Setup User Interface. Then edit - new competitor aliasing. Select all competitors and create the aliases.
Then use the Menu - Tools - change competitor field - select competitors with alias > 0 and set the fleet to NHC
Now create a new Scoring system fleet for Fleet = NHC and untick the inherit for Rating systems and set it to NHC int.
The problem in your case is you are using a rating system of PHRF ToD and NHC is based on a TCF rating system
So you need to enter a suitable TCF rating for the boats in the file for the NHC fleet to make this work sensibly. I haven’t done this as I don’t have the ratings to hand.
rescore grouping by fleet
Hope that helps

Hi
Jon,
I
got hung up when I went to the menu tools – change competitor field…:(in yellow)

Hi Michael,
I couldn’t see your image at least on my phone but you should find these useful. They have already been posted on the user group, if you do a search there is a lot of information there.

This is an example of dual scoring using an IRC fleet as the base fleet.
And then a set of Alias competitors that are scored as personal handicaps using the NHC
There is a short video on setting up Aliases available here http://www.screencast.com/t/EAwpgCSBB
There is no sound but it does show you the steps necessary to create the aliases.

Hi Jon,
The video and other references helped. So, here is what I came up with
in order to continue the PHRF ToD scoring and include NHC.
I changed the handicaps in the Rating column for the NHC fleet to TCF values. My objective is to have dual scoring with the original PHRF ToD and NHC using TCF’s.
It seems to work. Your thoughts?
Thank you
Michael
Hi Michael,
That looks as if all the ratings are going the correct way.

Cool! A little slow, but catching on (thanks to you!)

Hi Jon,
New challange I couldn’t complete. We have lake races, which consists of 3 fleets, Mono 100+, Mono <100, and multihul
I setup alias’s for the Mono 100+ but couldn’t do the same with Mono <100 and Multihull.
Can I do alias’s for these also within the file?
Attached is the file for alias’s for Mono 100+ (I haven’t changed handicaps to TCF yet, which I will do when have this figured out.
Thank you again
Hi Michael,
Yes you can create aliases for the other fleets - you can have them all in the same file
You can have multiple fleets in the file and multiple Alias fleets.
Note NHC will only adjust ratings if there are 3 or more boats that finish the race.
