I strongly recommend that if anyone is running a large handicap race, it is very helpful to post the race result in this order on the noticeboard.
Competitors can never really check a corrected time race result but there is more chance that they will spot an error if the result is posted in the order that they all crossed the line
Another tip for large handicap events, is to sort by class & then view by elapsed time.
This can help highlight any errors when entering the number of laps as (generally) most classes will complete the same number of laps
PS If you have a multiple start handicap race, view by finish times to get the actual order in which boats crossed the finish line

I assume you have a handicap race.
Then go to the “viewing” box top left, select “elapsed times”
Then click on top of column of the race you want finish order for, SW
will sort the competitors in finishing order, i.e. by elapsed time
ascending.
Then go to publish, uncheck publish series summary, check publish
individual races, select ‘just these races’ put number of race in box,
i.e. for third race in series type ‘3’.
Hope that helps

Subject: [sailwave] Finish order lists
After each race is entered, I want to print a hard copy of the finish
order list out of SW and compare it to the handwritten version. If
the two match, things are good, the two pages get stapled together and
stuck in the file. Otherwise we need to fix the up the finish order
until it matches.
So far, so good. However, printing a finish list is a bit of a pain.
If I’ve got it right, we have to
a) unscore the race
b) go into Series Scoring and change the Options from “score groups
separately” to “score all as one group”
c) select Finish Places in the Viewing drop down list
d) go to the Publishing menu to select individual race, etc.
It would be very nice if Colin would agree that printing a finish list
is essential to good recording practice; and secondly, make it a
one-button affair that leaves all the normal settings alone.
Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems a lot of work at the moment.
