Not all classes and/or sailors have WS rankings to use for the first day of flight assignments. I tried to use the random method for the first day, but it doesn’t create equal or near equal number of boats for each of the flights, which is not very good.
Would it be possible to create a random flight assignment method that creates equal numbers of boats for the flights? A solution would be to go through the flight colours back and forth and randomly assign a boat from the list of unassigned boats.
I’m currently, for the first day of flight assignments, ordering the sailors by their name or sail number .
Hi Peter - Yes the random is a pure Random - I will look at making it more balanced in the future but it has always been that way. At events that I’ve scored recently the NoR/SI’s state they are sorted in Nationality / Sailno order before assigning flights.
In most cases the entries for Sailwave are either in as CSV or XLS format. On the one occasion, I had to ‘flight’ them in WS ranking I added some random rankings to the end of those that didn’t have rankings, before I imported them into Sailwave.
