While translating a locale, I’m also comparing the features of 1.95 build 27 on an old laptop and 1.95 Build 6 on a new one.
- First point, essential, is the simplified user interface. Very good idea, but you need to follow the discussions on SUG to find how to display the hidden features. Sadly, new users are often working at club level, mostly using high point scoring systems and these don’t appear on “lite-base set”.
- A bad point is that the list of scoring systems (former ‘Scoring systems’ window) disappeared, unless you tick “Multiple scoring systems (rarely needed)” in the User interface.
- A further development should be to have a Sailwave library of scoring systems, including standard treatment for codes. Presently, the only option is to copy the settings of a previous series, then remove all unnecessary information.
- Well done, the check-tips about high point scoring systems, stating that codes are not configured automatically… but I’m not sure the mouse will stay on the field as long as needed to display the tip…
- General comment, any translation uses to be longer than the original text. Several captions are truncated, including most of the main menu bar items.
- For the use of locales, tips displayed in pop-ups are not translated…
