Fleet List - race specific listings

Following on from our testing , I've just had another potential
problem pointed out.

Before each race, we publish a fleet list. This list has the boats
in the fleet for that race and their race specific handicap for
Performance Handicaps.

We hadn't noticed earlier that the default for the existing fleet
list is the default rating for the boat and not a race specific
rating. Obviously, this is designed for a regatta over a day or two
where the performance handicap doesn't change and not our situation:
a series over 3 or 4 months where the handicap changes every race
and is a major factor in your tactics.

Also, we probably wouldn't want to show boats that we already know
are DNC. For example, some of our boats went north to race in the
Hamilton Island Race Week so won't race in races 2, 3 or 4 of our
Winter Series.

Of these, the race specific handicaps is more important. The
inclusion of DNCs is just a nice to have.

Hi Mike,

More flexible printing functionality is required; I'll take your comments
onboard as part of that.

For now you could (after setting the race-specific ratings) just publish the
results of Race N before it's been scored as use that as a fleet list - the
correct ratings will be shown. Not perfect but at least it's a list of the
correct information.

Colin

Thanks Colin,

I also came across another way of doing it. If you publish a series
report whilst you have the race specific ratings view on display, it
shows the ratings for each race in the series. It even does this if
the individual races have been scored.

I think the boys will like that becuase it increases the visibility
of the rating changes over a series.

Another thing that you may want to add to your list of things to do
(sorry) is do add the race specific rating to the "Import results"
process. Our handicappers use Excel to work out the ratings based
on some obscure set of rules. They tend to give us the ratings late
on a Friday so loading manually and accurately is an issue for us
and, I'm sure, a few others as well.

Hi Mike,

Yes, Sailwave will publish in the series table whatever you happen to be
viewing in the main grid at that time; i.e. whatever is chosen form the drop
down list in the toolbar. It also honours/honors any sorting in force at
that time; i.e. the sorting applied when you clikc on a column heading. All
these things shouldbe passed to the publishing system and the user should be
allowed to change them at the time, including font etc etc.
