I have a problem which also involves an apparent bug. I am new to
Sailwave, so I apologize if I've missed something obvious!
I have set up a 'master' Series which includes all of my area's PHRF
boats. In order to score a new regatta, I intend to copy the master
Series and then exclude the boats that do not participate. Thus, I
don't have to re-enter boat data for each regatta.
My first problem is dividing the boats into Fleets based on rating
bands. These bands can vary depending on the entry demographic for
each regatta. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a way to
use the Edit Race/Starts function to set up ratings-based fleets.
Instead, I must create the separate Fleets (PHRF A, PHRF B, etc.)
and specify a Fleet for each competitor individually.
Which brings me to my bigger problem, which is a bug: When I go to
the Edit Competitor window to specify a Fleet for each entry,
strange things happen! As I proceed throught the list of
competitors, entering a Fleet for each, some of the other data
fields begin to become corrupted, deleted or displaced. This bug
occurs reliably whether I open & edit each Competitor separately, or
use the Edit Next function.
Can anyone help me with these issues? BTW, I've got 728 master
entries and I'm trying to create a 40-boat event.
Thanks,
Kett Cummins
Hi Kett,
Can you send me the series and let me know what version of Sailwave you are using. I'll have a look, thanks for the feedback and apologies for the inconvenience. Starts based on more flexible expressions is coming... It means that 'fleets' can be dynamic depending on rating and rating system (etc).

Hi Kett,
Yes I did; thanks. Have you tried the latest 1.58 beta... I think it's better than 1.57 which was issued in a bit of a rush. Copy you files before opening them so you can go backwards if required.
Will get back to you ASAP, but > 100 emails waiting to be 'processed'.

We have loaded 1.57 and are having some problems with scoring.
The Tally number does not get populated automatically.
We are unable to correctly insert a competitor into the rotation after we
scored the race. We add 1 to competitors 4 and below in fleet x and it
reports that it has changed 47 boats (there are only 9 in the fleet). When
you check the score no scores have changed.
When we try and insert the competitor into fourth place it appears to be OK,
but when you run scoring it put the new "4th place" competitor in 1st place.
We are having a problem when running a multi class, multi race regatta and
one of the classes sails less races than the other. If we accidentally enter
something for one of the competitors that did not sail the last race, we are
unable to delete the result and sailwave insists that we add results for the
others. The only solution is to delete and rescore the race or create a
bogus scoring code with 0 points, e.g. BYE.
We have a 200+ boat regatta in a couple of weeks so we either need a
solution or to fall back to an older version.
Thanks

Hi Mark.
Tally now generalised into teh seeding tool.
Re: other problems, I cannot issue another version/fix for a number of weeks so I would suggest trying the latest 1.58 beta - which is better than the 1.57 release (which was issued too quickly) or as you say using 1.56. Apologies for the invoncenience.
